This past spring marked the fiftieth anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” The letter was Dr. King’s personal appeal to white clergy and faith leaders in response to their counsel that King and his colleagues were moving too fast in their quest for civil rights.
